About us

Overview

The Data Management and Statistics team was founded in November 2023 following restructuring in the Finance department. Our team focuses on the preparation, evaluation and publication of municipal data and statistics and, in the future, increasingly on the development of data competence and data culture in the city association, the analysis of data structures and the development of data models.

We are constantly striving to further develop our range of data and information on this portal. We are happy to receive your requests and suggestions at statistik@jena.de.

Did you know that as at 31.12.2023, there were exactly 108,393 residents with a main residence and 6,929 with a secondary residence registered in Jena's population register and that the districts of Cospeda and Maua are the same size with an area of 336 hectares? You can find more interesting facts and figures on our website or in our publications. Please contact us if you require further statistical information.

Our area of responsibility includes

• the preparation of population and household forecasts,
• maintaining the small-scale breakdown in the geographical information system
• the preparation of quarterly statistical reports and
• participation in elections, referendums and censuses.
